Our client was relocating to retire in relaxed and peaceful Lancaster, PA. The builder brought us in to update the look throughout this traditional colonial. We relocated and enlarged the kitchen, and redesigned the laundry room, mudroom, dining room, and entire second floor. We also changed the Gambrel roof into a Gable roof to allow the second floor walls to extend straight to the ceiling without sloping and losing floor space. Additionally, we enlarged the primary bath and created a thoughtful, functional flow.
Our client’s primary goal was to combine the charm of this colonial architecture with classic, timeless design, and colorful character. Looking for a place to call home in retirement, they craved a thoughtful, transitional home that felt welcoming, spacious, and cohesive while seamlessly supporting their peaceful lifestyle. They desired a larger kitchen, modern updates, new appliances, more storage, and a fresh look with tasteful, sophisticated accents and personality.
Enlarging the kitchen meant relocating it to another space. The previous kitchen became a butler’s kitchen and serves as the heart of the home. In each room, the finishes were carefully considered with our client in mind to create a character-rich and colorful feel, inviting light and life. Tech features are integrated throughout the home ensuring a clean, clutter-free, and functional space. The home now provides plenty of space for hosting, entertaining, and daily reconnection.
